Gloria Muñoz

Barcelona, 1949

Gloria Muñoz has the ability to capture the beauty of what she paints and transmit it masterfully. She interprets reality and makes it plastically hers through the filter of emotions. In her still lifes she shows the emotional connection she establishes with the elements that compose them. These objects often appear only suggested and surrounded by a spiritual atmosphere. She seeks the essence of each object through a free, fluid and expressive brushstroke.

Gloria Muñoz’s landscapes express the sensations, experiences and intuitions that she feels in front of the nature. Sometimes, she captures the strength of the elements: the wind, the rocks or the transparent sky of an intense blue. At other times, she depicts scenes of serene beauty that invite us to let our imagination fly and reflect on the transience.

Her work is intuitive and passionate. Through an austere and synthetic but powerful language, she raises questions of great conceptual importance about painting, but always from a close and understandable point of view.

Gloria Muñoz holds a PhD in Fine Arts from the University of Barcelona and teaches painting at the same faculty. Her work has been exhibited in cities such as London, Geneva, San Francisco, New York, Hong Kong, Bologna, Strasbourg and Madrid, among others. She has been exhibiting at Sala Parés since 1988.
