Anaïs Senli (Barcelona, 1980) presents her second solo exhibition at Galeria Trama. She is an up and coming artist who has lived and worked in Berlin for more than ten years, and who was selected in a prior edition of ART<30, the competition organised conjointly by Sala Parés and Galeria Trama. Since then, Galeria Trama has continued to present her work in different group exhibitions as well as in art fairs such as Swab Barcelona and ArtsLibris.

Orogeny is the concept that forms the title of the exhibition; a geological process related to the changes in the earth’s lithosphere, by which mountains are developed and transformed. In this exhibition, we find paintings, drawings, and collages that explore landscape as a force. They are territories in movement, variable and intermittent. We also find an installation divided into three elements that evoke a burned forest. The work of Anaïs Senli is inspired by the theories of the French philosopher Bruno Latour, who reflects upon the relations between politics, science, and nature. Science understood as the only authority that can explain nature and dictate what is certain; that can only survive if there is an absolute distinction between things “as they are,” nature, and “the representation humans make of them,” society and politics.

In the words of the artist: “The question of what we consider nature forms one of the main points of departure in my work.  My drawings, paintings, photographs, and installations explore possible landscapes. Far from being represented as a total entity these appear in fragmented and distorted forms that combine materials found in the woods with others that are industrially produced, leading to imaginary constructions that can maybe infiltrate reality and lead us to question our perception of nature”

Anaïs Senli (Barcelona, 1980) Graduated in Fine Art from UDK (Universität der Künste, Berlin) where she was also a Meisterschülerin. She went on to study philosophy and is currently undertaking a Masters degree. Her work forms part of the Fundació Banc Sabadell, and she has also received different prizes and grants for the development of her artistic projects. She exhibits regularly in different galleries in Berlin and Barcelona and has participated in various emerging art fairs, such as Swab Barcelona and Arts Libris.
