Guillermo Pérez Villalta

Tarifa, 1948

Painter, draughtsman, illustrator, jewellery and furniture designer, set designer and writer, Guillermo Pérez Villalta is a total artist and intellectual of art. In 1968 his family moved to Madrid, where Pérez Villalta studied architecture, a discipline that was to exert an unquestionable influence on the conception of his pictorial work. In the sixties and early seventies he began to exhibit in Madrid, showing works that still retained a certain conceptual flavour that ended up leading to a highly personal figuration that was linked to pop and Mediterranean-style metaphysical painting.

From the outset, his work was linked to the Nueva Figuración Madrileña, a trend in which Pérez Villalta was one of the leading artists, showing his work regularly at the famous Galería Buades and Galería Fernando Vijande.
