About the artist

Francesc Artigau studied Arts and Crafts at Escola d’Arts i Oficis d’Hostafrancs in Barcelona between 1954-58. From 1958 he enrolled to study Fine Arts at the Escola de Belles Arts de Sant Jordi of Barcelona, where he learnt about anatomy, perspective, drawing from real life etc. From early years he showed his love surrounding the skills involved in painting and the crafts. His work became public in the 1960s when, after the height of the Catalan Informalism movement, some artists went back to the figurative art.

He used to teach Drawing at Escola Eina in Barcelona between 1975 and 2010 and Painting at the Faculty of fine Arts at University of Barcelona between 1988 and 2005. He currently divides his time living and working in Barcelona and Menorca. He has presented more than 70 individual exhibitions and has participated in numerous group shows, working with prestigious Spanish galleries such as Belarte, René Metras, Trece and Círculo del Arte. He exhibits in Sala Parés since 1988.
